It’s the best time of the year! Computer Science Education Week & Hour of Code from December 8-14, 2014 is here! It is an annual week-long program dedicated to inspiring K-12 students to take interest in computer science. It was scheduled to coincide with Admiral Grace Hopper’s birthday, a visionary computer scientist born on December 9, 1906. CSEdWeek was first recognized in 2010 when the 111th Congress passed House Resolution 1560 to raise awareness about the impact of computing innovation on economic growth, as well as the need to bolster computer science education at all levels. I blogged before about the history of CSEdWeek here on Huffington Post. Since 2013, my colleague-partner-in-CS-crime Hadi Patrovi, and his organization, Code.org, turned the Hour of Code into a global movement, reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries.
